Many men are attracted to outdoor sports because of the time it
gives them alone in God's creation--time to rest, reflect, and
refresh before returning to the everyday stresses of work, family
life, finances, and more. "Faith Afield" is their guide to making
this time in God's country last when they return home.
This unique devotional, geared primarily toward men, uses
illustrations and principles from hunting, shooting, and fishing
sports, giving sportsmen new insights into truths from Scripture
and challenging them in their walk with God. Each devotion leaves
the outdoorsman with a specific life application on topics such as:
-the importance of authentic living
-putting on the whole armor of God
-overcoming obstacles in life
-the key to avoiding sexual temptations
-focusing on that which is most important
The perfect gift for the hunter, fisherman, or gun enthusiast,
"Faith Afield" will challenge men as it brings them closer to God.

Fatherland is a bold, ambitious show about contemporary fatherhood
in all its complexities and contradictions. Created by Frantic
Assembly's Scott Graham, Karl Hyde from Underworld and playwright
Simon Stephens (Punk Rock, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the
Night-Time), this daring collage of words, music and movement
confronts the complexities and contradictions of contemporary
fatherhood. A vivid, urgent and deeply personal portrait of
21st-century England at the crossroads of past, present and future,
the play is inspired by conversations with fathers and sons from
the writers' home towns in the heart of the country. Tender and
tough, honest and true, Fatherland is a vital and necessary show
about what we were, who we are and what we'd like to become. The
world premiere of Fatherland took place at the Royal Exchange
Theatre, Manchester on 5 July 2017 as part of Manchester
International Festival. This is a revised version of the original
text which coincides with performances in London at the Lyric
Hammersmith as part of LIFT 2018.

What is success in war? Who defines success? A review of past
theorists such as Sun Tzu, Thucydides, Jomini and Clausewitz along
with modern scholars such as William Martel, Azar Gat, and J. Boone
Bartholomees produces a model for understanding success. First,
success must be defined using political terms. Since war is a
political endeavor at the strategic level, success in war must be
defined using political language. Politicians and military leaders
must define the objectives of war and convince the population that
the political condition has improved using whatever political
language is required for the given situation. Military tactical
language is not sufficient for defining success at the political
level. Second, the political leaders must define the desired
objective for the military campaign. Political leaders understand
politics and the nature of the population. Military leaders should
help political leaders define success in war. Politicians
understand the population and military leaders understand the
theory and history of war. Third, the political condition that
exists at the end of the war determines whether the war was
successful. Victory in battle is important but is not always
necessary for success. War must improve the political condition.
Finally, a review of two US conflicts in Lebanon against the
success model demonstrates its utility. The political and military
leaders in Lebanon 1958 followed the theory of the model and
achieved a successful outcome for the conflict. The political and
military leaders of Lebanon 1983 did not adhere to the theory of
the success model and were unable to achieve success. Although
adherence to the model will not ensure future success, it can be
used to help political and military leaders better prepare for
future conflict.
Natalie, a typical 21st century California teen, is an unlikely
candidate for savior of the Native American tribes, but across the
United States, tribal elders are meeting in secret locations to
ponder a petroglyph of a girl dressed in red leading the people
through a cave-like opening to a new land. The story is very old
and originated with a single tribe on the west coast thousands of
years ago, but over the centuries this tale of a girl who would
lead them to a new world spread throughout the tribes. The time for
her to lead them through the mysterious opening in the earth has
arrived. Natalie's young life is shattered when she learns her
parents have died in an auto accident, but she has no idea the
extent to which her life, and indeed the entire world, will soon
change. When she visits her grandfather at his ranch to deliver the
news his daughter and son-in-law have died, her Grandpa Jeb tells
her of the new world awaiting at the end of a lava tube his own
father discovered many years before, the tube's entrance now hidden
in Jeb's barn. The characters speculate that the tube is actually a
worm hole because it takes them back more than 9,000 years, to the
western coast of the North American continent during the
Paleo-Indian period. Natalie's grandfather has discovered that the
world as we know it will end in a few short years, and he makes
plans to transfer as much of the best of our modern knowledge to
the old world as he can before the coming cataclysm. A central
question in the novel is the possibility of remaking the world
without making the same mistakes (the abuse of the earth, the
invention of nuclear weapons, relationships between peoples defined
by power and military might, and etc.). What if, one of the
characters asks, the Native Americans had been left to develop
toward some unified civilization instead of being nearly wiped out
by the European invasion? Beyond The Barn Door is at once an
apocalyptic tale of the end of modern civilization and a tale of
hope in the rebirth of a new civilization to take its place. It is
also a love story, and a story of human creativity and resilience.
This is the LIMITED WRATH EDITION of Hellucination. A drug-fueled
trip through the gruesome levels of Hell may sound like a fictional
horror story to some, and since the traveler in question was movie
distributor Stephen Biro, it could just as easily have been one of
his film projects. But Stephen's experiences were the real,
life-changing sort. They're also proof that the Lord does work in
mysterious ways -- extending all the way to squares of LSD and
nitrous oxide cartridges.
Armed with psychedelics, hallucinogenics and a brave desire to
meet God no matter the personal cost, Stephen pushed beyond the
boundaries of safe drug use. He took the most nightmarish of trips
from a cramped one-bedroom apartment that he used for running his
underground video business. With initial difficulty finding God in
his altered state, Stephen instead encountered depravity and
grotesquery enough to make his soul weep, but he pushed on. And if
that wasn't bad enough, his Hellish experiences bled over into his
waking days, and his friends and acquaintances began identifying
themselves to him as Antichrists, deities and other assorted beings
from "the other side." Reality was blurring and shifting, and
Stephen was run utterly ragged. Could he fulfill his quest to learn
universal truths before his extreme drug use took its toll?
Hellucination: A Memoir spares no disturbing detail of the unusual
route that one man took to find Christ and the God of the Bible.
The memoir also follows younger Stephen through his 1970s childhood
and his bizarre early encounters with religion that drove him to
Atheism.
""An utterly surreal memoir. I'd say it was 'mindbending, ' but"
"HELLUCINATION" "doesn't just bend your mind, it twists it,
stretches it, stabs it, and tosses it on the grill "" - Jeff
Strand, author of the upcoming book, "PRESSURE" and "WOLF HUNT"
He's been nominated for the Bram Stoker Award in 2006, 2008, and
2010.
"HELLUCINATION" takes the form of a page-turning memoir, combining
personal trip reporting with science fiction, horror movie, and
religious mythologies, philosophical speculation on the nature of
the author's experiments with psychedelic drug combinations,
strange encounters with other people who may not be what they seem,
and the rationale behind his spiritual conversion from atheism to
Christianity." " --David Jay Brown
Author of "Mavericks of the Mind" and "Conversations on the Edge
of the Apocalypse"
"HELLUCINATION" is a powerful read. In fact, it might distinctly
appeal to fantasy readers, film lovers and lovers of fiction. Biro
writes passionately with a purpose... you may end of ripping your
eyes out afterwards though." " -- Review, Horrornews.net
"Mind-boggling and enthralling. The visualization techniques used
is astounding." - Paul White - "Producer of Bride of Re-Animator
and Brian Yuzna's Society"
"I felt myself questioning my faith, or lack of faith, on
religion, Jesus, God, the Devil, and what the purpose and point of
my life and existence really was/is. I think that is the point of
the book. The book raises awareness and makes readers think about
the meaning of life and what their purpose is in it. That, in
itself, is a pretty scary thing to think and ponder about. -
Hellucination - Book review by" www.shuizmz.com
"Cinematic... it's going to scare the Hell out of some
Christians." - Jim VanBebber - "Director of The Manson Family and
Deadbeat At Dawn"
"The Laplander Goose" is a fable--the story of an old woman, the
goose she loves so dearly, a type of magic that promises to make
life very easy, and an unfortunate turn of events that has made
things very, very difficult. Set in the far northern parts of
Scandinavia, "The Laplander Goose" is a tender and heartfelt story
of the sometimes-unexpected paths taken by love, and at the same
time it can be taken as a parable on the careful use of
environment, technology and other types of magic. This story will
appeal to young and mature readers alike.
